Houseplant Size Guide

Plant height measurement: How we measure the height of our houseplants from pot to top

At Houseplant.co.uk, we want to ensure that you choose the perfect plant for your space. Here's how we measure our plants:

Plant Height:

Measured from the base of the nursery pot to the top of the plant, including the full length of the stem and foliage.

Pot Size:

Refers to the total width across the top of the pot.

Choosing the Right Size

To find the perfect fit, compare the diameter of your plant's grow pot to the opening diameter of your chosen decorative pot. Ensure the decorative pot is at least 1-3cm larger in diameter than the grow pot for easy insertion and removal.

Important Notes

  • Plant sizes are approximate and include the depth of the plant pot and roots, not just the height from the top of the soil.
  • If a specific plant size is not available, we may provide a larger plant at no additional cost to you.

Venus Fly Trap Care Guide

Keep in a humid environment such as a kitchen or bathroom for best results. The soil should be kept moist but do not allow to stand in water for prolonged periods of time. Place in bright but indirect sunlight. Avoid letting things fall in the traps or feed them unusual foods e.g. soil, to prevent damage and dying back of the traps.

What Is the History of the Venus Fly Trap?

The Venus Fly Trap is native to the subtropical wetlands of the East Coast of the United States, particularly North and South Carolina. Discovered in the 18th century, it quickly captured the public's imagination due to its carnivorous traits. Over time, it has become a subject of numerous scientific studies and a popular houseplant.
